"Mama du Plenty got me a library card when I was 5 years old and Ive been
hooked on books ever since," say Tomata. "Most times Im reading 4 books at
a time, and even though I often get the characters and plots mixed up, I still get a
thrill out of turning the pages." du Plenty adds.
"Besides Jack Kerouac, I will be showing portraits of Oscar Wilde, Raymond Chandler,
Anais Nin, Jose Marti, Charles Bukowski, Arthur Rimbaud, Julia Child and over 200 more of
the authors I really dig, painted on wood and in watercolors."

Hiya,
I'm Tomata du Plenty. I live in New Orleans. I like to paint
because it
keeps me out of trouble. I'm a self-taught artist who travels the country
putting on exhibits. I've shown here in New Orleans and in California and
Florida. Usually I see how much art I can get into 3 suitcases and I hop a
plane or train and set up shop in a bar, a restaurant or even a Laundromat.
I've painted Country Western Stars, Jazz Legends, Rhythm & Blues artists,
Boxers, Cowboys, Animals, Punk Rockers and more. I did one show called
101 Elvises and another 101 Lucies as in Lucille Ball. I like
folks and enjoy
painting them. Currently I'm doing writers I like.
Maybe soon Ill come to your town. You can
reach me at
Tomata@TomataDuPlenty.com
P.S. I know some of you remember me when I was a punk rock singer in the
Los Angeles band the Screamers and others of you remember me when I was
a bartender in Miami in the 90s, still others of you may recall when I was
a glitter, street kid in the theater groups the Cockettes in San Francisco
and Ze Whiz Kids in Seattle in the early 70s. Yeah, that was me.
Now you can find me in New Orleans, happy painting up a storm!

Many of you have asked me: "How can I purchase a
"Tomata" work of art?"
Well, I'm pretty much opened to any suggestions and since my interests are
varied, you can pretty much ask me to paint any subject. As you can see, I've been
painting famous authors of late, but in the past I've done everything from boxers to punk
rockers, country legends to rhythm & blues and soon I will be mounting 2 seperate
exhibits one on movie stars and another on opera. I try to keep my prices reasonable as I
think folks ought to be able to afford art.
For 8"by 10" watercolor I charge $30 plus $3.20 mailing for
each work
For any 5"by 7" watercolor I charge $20 plus $3.20 mailing for each work
For canvas and larger pieces on wood, the price is more . Feel free to E
me and let me know what you would like, and folks thank you for your continued support,
believe me I'm grateful. |
